Reasons Babies Cry

Crying is how your Baby communicates with you. It is a normal event in the lives of all babies. When a baby comes out of the womb, the first thing he does is cry. This first cry allows your Baby to take air into the lungs for the first time. From this moment on, your Baby will cry to voice his needs, wants or troubles. However, sometimes it can upset the mother or family members to hear the Baby cry.

A Baby can't tell his needs or troubles in words. The only way to communicate with others is by crying. Babies will also communicate with signs like feet kicking, hand waving and head turning ect. However, the best way to get the attention of others is by crying.

The sudden onset of excessive crying means a Baby is distressed and needs attention. The crying may or may not have a firm definition because the crying habits change from Baby to Baby. Some Babies can be calmed easily. Some are difficult to soothe. Many times a Baby will become quiet by giving breast milk or by carrying with a gentle rocking motion. The causes of crying extends from simple reasons to life threatening conditions. For this reason, a Baby's cries should not be ignored.

It can be difficult to find the cause of your Baby's cry. After a few months, you will get to recognize some cries as hunger, as a need for a dry diaper, or as a need for cuddling. However, there are other reasons for your Baby to cry.

3, Torsion of testes in male Babies  --  When a male Baby cries continuously his scrotum should be examined.  Torsion of the testes produces severe pain which is made worse by touching the affected testes.  When the testes is pressed upwards, the pain is releived.  If this is not treated properly it can damage the affected testes due to lack of blood supply.

4,  Meningitis  --  Initially there may not be fever.  Because of this, a crying baby with alternate vacant stare and irritability should not be ignored.  The Fontanel is bulging.  Neck rigidity and seizures may appear later.

6, Major injuries  --  A major injury to any part of the body causes pain. Occasionally Babies will fall resulting in a head injury. Head injuries are associated with reflex vomiting and convulsions.

The most important thing you can do when your Baby is crying, no matter what the reason, is to stay calm.  Babies can sense when you are tense and upset.  Your nervousness and frustration can cause your Baby to cry more.  If you are having trouble remaining calm, it is best to have a family member or a friend watch your Baby while you take a short break to get yourself together.  Take a walk, a long bath or a short nap.  Anything that will allow you to be more relaxed.
