Smoke Detectors

Smoke Detectors should be installed on every level of your home as well as near each bedroom, the kitchen and bathroom to alert you in case of a fire.  Smoke Detectors are essential safety devices for protection against fire injuries and deaths.  Most families that die in a house fire did not have working Smoke Detectors that could have warned them and saved their lives.

It is important to check your Smoke Detectors each month to make sure they are still working.  If you are using battery operated detectors, you should change the batteries twice a year.  To make it easy to remember, it is advised that you change the batteries when the time changes from standard time to daylight savings time, and then back again.    You can also consider using 10-year batteries, just don't forget to change them every ten years.
